Advocacy

Since the very first day of the war, the Tigrayan community in Netherlands have been heavily engaged in antiwar advocacy and demanding international community in general and the Dutch government in particular to enforce cessation of hostility and provide humanitarian aid to the Tigray people, who are the victims of various despicable crimes and man-made famine.

As Tigrayans, we knew how barbaric the war can be as we closely follow the dehumanization, hate speeches by state and non-state actors fueling anti-Tigrayan sentiment throughout Ethiopia.

We have documented and presented the cause of the war, the crimes committed by the Ethiopian and Eritrean forces, sexual and gender based violations, the hate-speeches by state and non-state actors, including the hate speeches of Abiy Ahmed, Ethiopian Prime Minister, and eventually the unfolding humanitarian crisis in the form of a man-made famine.

We advocate to different European and Dutch government organs such as NATO, EU, Dutch parliament, Dutch foreign minister office and other embassies demanding for end of hostilities and humanitarian aid corridor.  Our advocacy effort focuses on:

  • Holding demonstration and rally to demand the support of the international community as well as to create awareness to the Dutch people about the crisis in Tigray.
  • Lobby and diplomatic effort by formal correspondence with various government and non-government organizations.
  • Fighting and correcting disinformation campaign by groups/individuals about the war on Tigray.

Tigray Prevail!
