The Federal government of Ethiopia waged war on the Tigrayan people on November 4, 2020, and Tigray has since kept in the dark due to the supply lines blockade, telecommunication and electricity shutdown, and suspension of banking and all government services imposed by the federal government of Ethiopia.

The ongoing conflict has claimed more than half a million civilian lives and displaced 2.2 million people internally, while over 89% of the Tigray population are facing man-made famine conditions due to the siege imposed by the Ethiopian government. This has resulted in 150,000 to 200,000 starvation deaths, and more than 100,000 additional deaths caused by a lack of health care as reported by researchers at the Gent University in Belgium. Despite urgent calls by the international community, the Ethiopian government has refused to provide unhindered access to aid organizations or international journalists.

Several hundred people join a demonstrations in Amsterdam on Nov. 4, 2022, to protest to commemorate the 2nd anniversary of the Ethiopian government genocidal war against the people of Tigray.
