A devastating war is being waged in Tigray since November 4, 2020, with no foresight for lasting end.
War crimes, crimes against humanity, ethnic cleansing and systematic acts of genocide are being committed on the people of Tigray.
Tigrayans are enduring cascaded layers of ethnic-based systematic attacks, including total siege, systematic mass killing, weaponized mass & gang raping of women and girls, complete destruction of food, water and medical systems, ethnic-based mass arrest, torture, business closure, etc. As H.E. Mark Lowcock explained to the UN “over 90% of the harvest was lost due to looting, burning and other destructive activities and 80% of the livestock in the region were also looted or slaughtered”. Soldiers also burned reproductive organs of women, deliberately infected women with HIV virus, strictly blocked life-saving food and medical aid, disrupted timely ploughing of farmer’s lands, blockade of all roads to/from Tigray, switched off telecommunications & electricity, etc. Read more: Crime Reports (PDF)
